Pumpkin Carving

Sunday night we carved pumpkins as a family (in Luke's case painting) for the first time with Luke! He kept saying pumpkin over and over as we started cutting the tops off and scraping the insides. After Mom scraped the insides Luke reached in and popped some gooey orange stuff and maybe a pumpkin seed in his mouth! Unfortunately, we didn't get a picture of his face, raw pumpkin insides aren't too good apparently. As the night continued he used Kaits t-shirt as a napkin, flung orange goop on the dogs back, and dumped the pumpkin seeds back into the pumpkin. He was keeping it interesting. Kait made a minion (from the movie Despicable Me), Hunter did a Duck Commander ( Duck Dynasty Call) and I did a moon and sun. Once the inside of his pumpkin was clean we handed him paintbrushes and a paint pallet. And boy did he make one colorful pumpkin. He kept telling Hunter to spin it so he could paint on all the sides. 'Luke's Pumpkin' as Luke says was covered in paint, along with his belly, face, and hands. I have to say he was pretty cute covered in paint!

He is ready to paint!

He didn't really like the pumpkin on his arm.

As you know the Klaasen family has been a great help through the whole adoption process! We went to there house Saturday night and Luke has been playing with Kyah. Here is a few of the cute shots we got of the two. (:

Last weekend when Dad was up north hunting, us kids and mom spent some time with Luke. We took Luke to Hunter's soccer game and Hunter's team won! And then to the Critter Barn petting zoo, with Grandma Kalkman, downtown Zeeland. The Critter Barn was another one of Luke's 'firsts'! He saw a bunch of animals, up close, that he had never seen before. He knew some of the names because Mom has recently started to teach him animal names and there sounds (His favorite noise is Mooo).  It went pretty well except for when he got a little too close to a bunny and a turkey.. Happy Fall (:

Luke was a little timid about being so close to them!

Our neighbor boy, Aiden, lifted up a baby goat for Luke to pet!

He loved the cows!

We tried to set the bunny in his lap that was a little scary.

Another Cabin Weekend

This weekend we headed up to the cabin for the opening of youth deer season. Here are a few snapshots of our autumn weekend including Hunter's first deer!

Another one of Luke's firsts - playing in the leaves.

Luke and me pulling the same face.

Kait tossing leaves over us.

Only picture of Luke smiling, don't mind our faces.

Smile!

Cousin Ben helped us track it!
