Terefe,,,,Welcome to the Family
The 772 days of waiting has finally come to an end we got a refferal on Feburary 12 at 3:00 . He is 20 months old and weights about 19 lbs. Feburary 12 was also Hunter's birthday so it was a good day for it to happen. When my mom get the news so quickly went to the store to get some balloons to take to my dad's work to suprise him. After that all took place they went to church to suprise Lauren and I ( it was a tuesday so we had bible club) . I was such overjoyed I was speechless and tears ran down my face ( same with lauren). Seeing pictures of this beautiful baby boy was so exciting. We went back home told hunter the news then headed over to my Diepenhorst Grandparents. It took a while for them to figure it out becuase the though we just stoped by to say hi becuase they just got back from Florida a few days piror and cause it was Hunters birthday. We eventually told them to look at the balloons and they finally figured it out. They were also so happy to see pictures and watch a video of their new grandson. We went out to eat at B dubs went home for about a hour then headed to GR to pick up my other grandparents. They were headed home from Arizona and it was the same case 10 years ago. So it was pretty cool them somming home to know that they are now pround grandparents of 10 grandkids. Blessed ( the one word that describes how my family feels) Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers really means alot! Stop by to see some pics because we are not allowed to put pics on the internet yet..... And congrats to the VanDams on their refferal, its pretty cool our siblings will be in the same grade :) No court date for our family yet ( not sure if vandams have one either) but it ( they) should be comming soon..

How It All Began..
How It All Began: Our Story
My parents didn't realize until November 2009 they both wanted to add to our family. The long journey with Bethany Christian services began. My parents were told they would never be chosen for a domestic child(or it would be a long time). They decided to do inter-country adoption. Next it was to find a country and thats where Ethiopia came into the picture. When they originally signed on they where told it would be 6 to 12 months waiting period for a boy age 24 months to 3 years. Two dossiers and homestudies later, we are now almost in our 24st month of waiting for our refferal. For those who don't know the adoption process for Ethiopia, you take two trips after receiving your referral in the states. On the first trip you head over seas and get to see your child and have your first court date. For the second trip you receive you go to court, if you pass embassy are able to take your adopted child home.
As kids, the adoption became real for us the first time that our parents took us to Bethany Christian Services. Our parents were going to meet Belinda, our extremely wonderful social worker. We had expected our parents to walk out of her office right away with our little brother. If only fantasiess were reality.
